My daughter Lilly is only two years old and patient is not a word I would use to describe her.
When she wants her "passie" she wants it right now. When she wants her "chalky milk" it's not too long before you know it. When her sister Mikayla is holding a doll she wants, lets just say Lilly's natural inclination is to get physical.
Lilly is not patient, but then again, she's only two year's old.
Many Youth Pastors, today carry themselves like my two year old daughter. Patience is not a word that describes their behavior.
When they want to do a big event and the budget is turned down, they run behind closed doors and pout. If they think they need more help, but the Pastor will not let them hire an assistant, they quickly get bitter. When a pay raise hasn't come their way in two years, many Youth Pastors start getting their resume around to see "what God may have for them in the future".
Many Youth Pastors, today are not patient, they act more like two year old than grown ups.
Patience is for grown ups. Grown ups see the big picture. Grown ups understand life is not all about them. Grown ups are strong enough in themselves, that when things don't go their way, they refuse to sulk, get bitter or run away from their problems.
Youth Pastors we have God's calling on our life. We have adults that look to us for leadership. We have teenagers that look to us for spiritual guidance. We have families members that count on us for love and support. Youth Pastors it's time to grow up. It's time to be patient.
